- The 2027 Santos Tour Down Under will run men's and women's stages on the same course, on the same day and over the same distance for its final three days, according to the route announcement published by the organiser on 1 July. The organiser says this will make it the first race to do so. The event runs from 16 to 24 January 2027 and opens the UCI WorldTour season.

The Tour Village opens in Victoria Square, Adelaide, on Saturday 16 January. The men's race then runs over six stages from Tuesday 19 to Sunday 24 January, and the women's race over three stages from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 January, according to the organiser.

The shared days begin on Friday 22 January with 144.7 kilometres from Glenelg to Victor Harbor, which the organiser describes as the first full-scale men's and women's double header, with the two pelotons about 90 minutes apart. Saturday's stage covers 116.4 kilometres from Christies Beach to a summit finish on Willunga Hill, climbed twice, and Sunday's covers 136.2 kilometres from Norwood to Stirling. It is the first time the final stage has started in Norwood.

The organiser calls the routes the longest men's and women's races in the event's history. Its July announcement gives 874 kilometres for the men and 397.3 kilometres for the women; its stage guide gives 876 and 397 kilometres.

The men's race opens on 19 January with 164.9 kilometres from Henley Beach to Gumeracha, according to the race-day schedule. The stage crosses the Birkenhead Bridge into Port Adelaide for the first time and climbs Checker Hill three times, also a first. The stage guide lists the climb at 1.13 kilometres, with an average gradient of 14.2 per cent and a maximum of 18.4 per cent.

In the organiser's announcement, the Race Director, Stuart O'Grady, said: “As a cycling fan, next year's race will be as close to the holy grail as you can get.”
